Gatsas Calls Out Liberal Hassan-Sununu Education Agenda
Sununu Has Consistently Supported Hassan’s Common Core Advocates For Top State Positions
Manchester, NH – Manchester Mayor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ted Gatsas today called out Executive Councilor Chris Sununu and his consistent support for the liberal Hassan-Sununu education agenda in Concord. The Union Leader reports that as a candidate for governor, Chris Sununu is promising to restore local control to New Hampshire schools. But as an Executive Councilor, Sununu has been a loyal vote for Common Core contracts and Governor Hassan’s nominations of radical Common Core advocates.
“Despite his phony election year rhetoric, Executive Councilor Chris Sununu has consistently voted for contracts that impose Common Core standards on New Hampshire students while regularly supporting Governor Hassan’s nominations of Common Core advocates for top education positions. Instead of standing up for students, the councilor has been a loyal vote for the liberal Hassan-Sununu education agenda that is threatening local control of our schools,” said Mayor Ted Gatsas. “As mayor, I have stood up to the federal government and opposed Common Core. As New Hampshire’s next governor, I will stand up to the liberal Hassan-Sununu education agenda by rejecting Federal Common Core standards, reevaluating standardized testing and encouraging school choice and ensuring that appointments to the Department of Education and State Board of Education reflect my philosophy that parents – not bureaucrats – know best.”
