Meet Ted Gatsas

Ted Gatsas currently serves as the47th Mayor of Manchester. He was first elected to serve in 2009 and was re-elected in 2011, 2013 and 2015. As Mayor he also serves as Chairman of the Board of School Committee.

In 2000 Ted was elected to the New Hampshire State Senate to represent District 16 comprised of the towns of Bow, Candia, Dunbarton, Hooksett and Manchester Wards 1, 2 & 12. Ted served for five consecutive terms until being elected Manchester Mayor. Ted served as Senate President from 2005 – 2006.

Ted and his brother Michael co-fouded Staffing Network. Staffing Network was an employee leasing company that was founded to help small business manage administrative burdens and government regulations so that they could focus on why they went into business in the first place.

Staffing Network began with three employees and eventually grew to 55 employees managing 5000+ employees for small businesses around New England. Staffing Network was very successful because of their personal touch and attention to detail. The company was acquired in 1999 by a publicly traded corporation.

Ted and his brother Michael also co-founded Gatsas Thoroughbreds home of the grey gelding Gander. Gander was twice named New York Racing Association’s “Horse of the Year” and ran in two Breeder’s Cup Classic races. Gander is currently retired and continues to be loved and cared for by the Gatsas Family.

Ted and his wife Cassandra recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Cassandra is the co-President of the Manchester Animal Shelter.

Ted’s mother Pauline worked at Helene’s Dress Shop in downtown Manchester and as a secretary at Smyth Road School. His father was a local chiropractor who owned his own business at the corner of Auburn and Maple Street in Manchester. Ted credits his success to a relentless work ethic taught to him by his mother & father.

Ted attended Manchester public schools. He is a graduate of NH’s oldest high school, Manchester Central ’69 and the University of New Hampshire ’73. While at UNH Ted played Wildcat football.

Ted Gatsas is a lifelong Manchester resident born May 22, 1950.
