POLITICAL Standing for August 21, 2009
Every week Political Standing tracks who is up or down in New Hampshire politics

UP

John DeJoie: He filed paperwork to officially form his Congressional committee this week. The hometown Concord Monitor took it very seriously.

Judd Gregg: His town hall meeting in Salem dominated local newspapers on Friday while applying the heat on Democrats.

Ted Gatsas: With just a few weeks until the Manchester mayoral primary Gatsas held a fund-raiser with Judd Gregg this week and is still in the driver's seat.

DOWN

Carol Shea-Porter: She has been getting such a pounding over not holding town hall meetings this week that it is beginning to get weird, especially because she is in the district. These town hall meetings should be a good format for her anyway. Unlike a lot of politicians she actually believes in her positions.

Mark Roy: A few weeks ago it was anyone's guess whether he or Bobby Stephen would make it through the primary. Now the conventional wisdom is that Roy is toast with poor fund-raising as the main reason he just isn't getting the job done.

Kelly Ayotte: More signs that potential primary rival Ovide Lamontange is serious about running and DiStaso's column couldn't be pleasing many folks in Washington.
