Transit Union Announces Endorsement of Ted Gatsas for Mayor
October 14, 2009 Manchester, NH – The local Amalgamated Transit Union which is affiliated with the Manchester Transit Authority (MTA) announced today their endorsement of mayoral candidate Ted Gatsas. 
 
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local #717 made the following statement on behalf of its members, “We are honored to support Ted Gatsas for Mayor.  Ted is a leader and that is exactly what we need at City Hall.  In our time of need Ted came to us and listened to our concerns.  Ted rode our buses so he could hear directly from our passengers.  He is a trusted supporter and a true friend of the MTA.”

The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local #717 membership boasts 26 full time transit operators, 80 part time school bus operators, 6 mechanics and 3 utility personnel.,
 
Gatsas stated, "Throughout my time in public service I have always put solutions before politics.  I’ve asked questions and made tough decisions because it was the right thing to do.  It’s truly humbling to be recognized in this way by the ATU.  I look forward to working along-side the ATU to improve the quality of the public transportation system here in Manchester and to strengthening the relationship between the Manchester Transit Authority and City Hall.”
