PRESS RELEASE: Gatsas Statement on Executive Council Tabling New Hampshire Hospital Contract

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Mayor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ted Gatsas released the following statement today on the Executive Council’s action tabling a vote on a long-term state contract with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health Systems for staffing at the New Hampshire Hospital. Mayor Gatsas had previously called for the delay until the public receives more information about staffing levels at the hospital following the suicide of a Nashua woman hours after she was released from the facility:

“The public has a right to know more about the staffing levels at New Hampshire Hospital, and I am pleased that the Executive Council decided to table a vote on this contract. The staffing crisis at the facility has raised serious questions, and it is disappointing that Governor Maggie Hassan and Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeffrey Meyers failed to provide the leadership required to address this issue before it became a major problem. I believe that this contract should be rebid. As governor, I will work to bring everybody to the table to approve a fair contact that allows New Hampshire Hospital to attract and retain talented psychiatric and mental health professionals.”
